Marcel Legrand
1890 – 1933
Legrand was a painter born in Bordeaux and studied painting at the Académie Julian in Paris. In Montparnasse, he frequented Foujita and Modigliani. Mobilized during the First World War, he was forced to return to Gironde following serious injuries.
He settled in Le Teich, a town of which he would become mayor located on the Arcachon Bay. Having a “workshop boat” built, sailing on the banks of the Bay, he frequented the fishermen and park workers, inhabitants of this still very wild region.
