This pair of American Indian bronzes depict a kneeling man and a seated nude woman. The pieces have a lustrous patina and elegant composition. Though each sculpture stands alone, the two figures visually communicate with each other. His urgent expression is met with her confidant pose; her eyes closed as if listening intently. They sit on corn, a symbol of plenty that connects them to the earth. They are both one with the natural world and have cultivated it to satisfy their own needs. Proud and strong, these beautiful figures evoke the romantic mythology of the American West.
